So Carter has a dairy sensitivity (coconut milk yogurt^^). This has been an ongoing thing. It has gone from bad, to better, to worse. He hasn't had much dairy recently, and last night he started begging me for some Trader Joe's cool whip. Well, there really isn't that much dairy in it, so I thought what the heck, a couple of spoonfuls aren't going to hurt. Wrong.
And hurt they did. A few spoonfuls later, Carter gave me the uh-oh-mom-i'm-gonna-puke look. I calmly walked him to the bathroom (he pukes a lot), held him over the sink (just in the knick of time), and he did his thing. He fussed about the "mess" in the sink, then laughed, and got down to run around like his normal self.
I started to clean the sink. In the two seconds that I took to actually concentrate on the cleaning, Carter walked to the other side of the bathroom, lifted the lid on the toilet, stuck his hands in the trash and threw the trash into the toilet. Not a big deal if you're talking a few tissues or something, right? Nope. He threw in a a disposable diaper, a cardboard toilet paper roll, a paper towel and a baby wipe before I got to him.
*I took a picture to send to Tom, but I'll spare you a picture of my toilet crammed full of diapers, cardboard and paper towels. Use your imagination.
I grunted a little and told him to walk to the living room while I grabbed a plastic bag.
As I fetched the debris out of the toilet (glamorous, I know) he came waltzing into the bathroom sans diaper (apparently he ditched it in the living room) and peed in not one, but three places on the bathroom floor (I was incapacitated at this point because I was holding toilet debris and plastic bags). When he started chanting "poop" I almost lost it.
I this time seriously told him to go in the living room, threw everything out in the trash, cleaned up the bathroom floor and washed my hands 50 million times.
Toddlers are hard.
But I'll keep him anyway.

Oh lord. It's one of those things that as a non mom I'm giggling and simultaneously crying because I will be so very unprepared for motherhood. I shouldn't giggle - karma WILL get me.
ReplyDeleteThumbs down on the dairy intolerance! So not fun to deal with!
omg! i would be hollering my husband's name instantly and probably crying. i'm not currently a mom but will be showing this blog post to all my mom friends. btw there is a pinterest pin for coconut whip cream.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness! I tried so hard not to laugh, those days make motherhood so hard don't they?
ReplyDeleteHope your day got better mama!
Oh my! Reading that did make me giggle :) Although if I was in that situation, I probably wouldn't have been laughing! I'm not looking forward to the day when Oliver realises he can remove his diaper... Hope your day improved!
ReplyDeleteOh, boy! I'm about to have a little boy (due on Sunday eek!) and can't wait to see what I'm in for for the next few years! :) You've got an adorable little boy!

oh my word. you're a saint.
ReplyDeleteoh man i totally laughed out loud and then just thought about how my boy is going to be in the same spot in just one year. yikes.
ReplyDeleteI would of been crying , cursing, and calling the hubs.
thanks for sharing
Laughing cause it sounds like a day I've had. Oh man, how do they manage to throw up then create disaster and then pee somewhere. At least you found the puddles of pee. One day I found my nudist son and stepped in his puddle half hour later
ReplyDeleteGotta love it! My son also peed on the bathroom floor this morning after we took a bath and I wasn't quick enough getting a diaper on him as I was drying myself off. Fun, fun! So far (knock on wood) we're staying out of the toilet and don't have the puking issues (no fun!), so you've got me beat. I'll also keep my toddler, but they do give you a run for your money, eh?

ReplyDeleteHAHAHAH OMG thank you posting this lol I don't feel so alone with my little "hurricane" as I call him lol
ReplyDeleteYou poor thing! I would have lost it! I can't believe how calm you were!
ReplyDeleteProps to you mama :)
Toddlers are hard work ~ as mine is currently trying to burrow herself under the stairs.

oh, my gracious. Did you know that those blue toilet disks NEVER come out of clothing? I found my daughter splashing in the crapper once, and her adorable white outfit was stained blue until I finally threw it away.
ReplyDeleteShe's lucky I didn't throw her away too, because that's gross.
Thanks for linking!

It's all about the joy of having kids.
ReplyDeleteI could tell you stories.
I am loving the pictures! He is adorable!
@Lisa - thank you!! : ) And yes, as hard as kids are, they're even more fun!
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAHA most awesome Carter story ever. And god help me if I ever have a puker kid. I do find it hilarious that you were a puker and now you have one. It's payback. Which means I'll have a bitchy daughter someday ;-)
ReplyDeleteI also love that he's chillin in just a diaper - totally adorable. I always want to do that with Ben but our house is so cold all the time! Nothing cuter than an almost-nakey-baby.
And finally - girrrrl! You are almost at 1000 followers! TELL ME ALL YOUR SECRETS!
HA! Oh man, it's so true. Toddlers are definitely hard. We've had many nights similar to this. Thank goodness they're so cute!
ReplyDeleteHAHA. Oh MY!!!! Y'all crack me up. I would love to be a fly on the wall in your house. lol. I feel like he and Boston should be bff's. :))) xoxo
